Bevis Marks Synagogue, City of London
Desertoak are providing vital restoration and conservation works to enable this historic synagogues heritage accessible to all.
Commissioned by the Spanish and Portuguese Sephardi Community, and supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Desertoak has been appointed as the main contractor to carry works out on this historic Grade 1 listed building dating back to 1701.
Our team are sensitively conserving, restoring and refurbishing this historic place of worship to enable its sustainable future use for all to enjoy. Works include major structural repairs, complete refurbishment internally including specialist finishes, and the development of a new community space.
The final completion will include an entirely refurbished annexe, a visitor centre used for celebrations, meetings, lectures, and workshops, and a new café and shop. The courtyard will also be refurbished for outdoor events.
